Clayton County police seized 28 dogs from a woman who claimed to be running an animal rescue operation. An animal control officer went to 7289 Cardif Place near Jonesboro around 9:30 a.m. Thursday in response to complaints from neighbors about loud barking, Clayton County Police Capt. Jeff Turner said. The owner of the dogs, 45-year-old Linda Eavenson Beck, was at the house with the dogs and has been cited with having an unlicensed kennel and violating the county ordinance on prohibited treatment. Turner said the house was sealed and had no air-conditioning. Beck was not arrested and Turner said the dogs were not malnourished and their inoculations seemed to be up to date. Beck told police she was trying to get the dogs adopted. Turner said the county's animal control is hoping Beck will sign a waiver to allow the dogs to be adopted from the shelter. Having all 28 dogs at the shelter is stressing the shelter's resources.More like this story
