When the Eagle's Landing High School girls softball and boys' basketball teams return for the 2004-2005 school year, both squads will be under the direction of new head coaches.
Toby Evans has been hired as the school's new softball coach.
Evans takes over for Blake Lyons, who resigned last year as head softball and baseball coach after a successful tenure in both sports.
Clay Crump was named the head boys basketball coach. Crump takes over for David Edinger who resigned after being named head coach at Starr's Mill High School in Fayetteville last Friday.
Crump began his coaching duties at Eagle's Landing serving as an assistant coach for the girls team under former head coach Donnie Byrom.
After Byrom left Eagle's Landing to coach girls basketball and softball at Pickens County, Crump joined the boys' team as an assistant coach this season.
Crump takes over a team which went to the second round of the Region 2-AAAAA tournament this past season.
The Eagles return several starters and underclassman to next year's squad.
"I'm really excited about the opportunity I have been given," said Crump. "Since it's my first head coaching job I am a little apprehensive, but I'm ready to get started."
Crump hopes to establish a solid program by playing man-to-man defense and working hard in the fundamentals.
