William Jeremiah Blissit

William Jeremiah (Jerry) Blissit, 63, of Griffin, died March 13, 2004. He was born July 27, 1940 in Henry County, the son of the late Thelma Lucy Crumbley and William Frederick Blissit.

He was a member of Union Baptist Church, a member of the Wildlife Bird Association, retired from General Motors in 1993 with 29 years of service and served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1967. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances A. Cordova Blissit, in 2003.

Survivors are his daughters and son-in-law Angela and Larry Smith of Griffin and Debra Wright of Griffin; sisters Glenda Cordova of Augusta, Sue Morris of Americus and Betty Faye Bowden of Harvest, Ala.; grandchildren Amanda Smith, Jeremiah Smith and Cody Blissit; great-granddaughter Mallory Jerri-Danyele Smith.

A memorial service for Jerry Blissit will be Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with the Rev. Norm Daugherty officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Wesley Ray

Dodson

Wesley Ray Dodson, 71, of Locust Grove, died March 13, 2004. He was born April 15, 1932, in White County, Tenn., the son of the late Renna Marsh and Jim Dodson. He was a member of Phillippi Baptist Church working with the youth for numerous years. He was a volunteer at Cornerstone Nursing Home and retired from Ford Motor Co. with 26 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Kuhn Dodson of Locust Grove; sons and daughters-in-law Donnie and Kim Dodson and Ronnie and Karen Dodson of Locust Grove; sister Nancy Simmons of Jackson; brothers Bonnell Dodson of Jamestown, Tenn., and Everett Dodson of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Phillippi Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Seabolt and the Rev. Oscar Walker officiating. Interment will be at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m.

Dean Young

Dean Young of McDonough died March 13, 2004. He was a tax attorney in the Henry County area. He is preceded in death by his father Marion "Dutch" Young.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Terry Young; daughter Lauren Young of McDonough; mother Jane M. Young of Jonesboro; sister Cheryl Young of Fayetteville; brothers Mitch and Robin Young of Fayetteville, N.C., and Brent and Julie Young of Atlanta.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 16, at 11 a.m. at Pristine Chapel Lakeside, 7541 Mt. Zion Blvd., Jonesboro, with Dr. Jimmy Lewis officiating.
