Mr. E.L. Stephens, 84, of Jonesboro passed away Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Christian City Convalescence.

He was born Jan. 24, 1920, son of the late E.L. Stephens Sr. and Pearl McMullen Stephens. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Masons.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27 in the Jonesboro chapel of Pope Dickson Funeral Home with the Rev. Oliver B. Wood Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Jonesboro City Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita R. Stephens; children, Laura S. Ali-Talha and Larbi, and Kay T. Owens and Larry; brother, Jack Stephens; sister, Dorothy McBrayer; grandchildren, Jason Stephens Ali-Talha, Sabrina Ali-Talha, Mike Owens and Dr. Chris Owens.

Friends may visit the family from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to the First Presbyterian Church of Jonesboro Building Fund.

Stonewall "Stone" Jackson Young

Mr. Stonewall "Stone" Jackson Young of Jonesboro died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at Sunbridge N.H., Griffin, Ga.

A chapel service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27 with the Rev. Dennis Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.

Survivors include his sister, Grace Wood of Griffin; sisters-in-law, Ann and Daniel Hand of Barnesville, Catherine and Ricky Henderson of Jonesboro, Louise and Roy Lee Fowler of Fayetteville, Lillian and Don Madison of Berry, Ala., and Martha Stancell of Morrow; brothers-in-law, Clifford and Juanita Hand of Jonesboro, Henry and Kathleen Hand of Barnesville, Byron "Butch" Hand of Fayetteville, Roy and Barbara Hand of Fayetteville and Don Hand of Jackson.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
