A 12-year-old Riverdale boy who was mauled by a neighbor's dog remained in the hospital Monday with serious injuries. The boy went to pet the dog at a house on River Park Drive just after 8 p.m. Sunday, Riverdale police Officer Debra Johnson said. "He had been allowed to pet the dog earlier that day with the owner present," Johnson said. After the attack the boy's 9-year-old friend Kevonte Slaughter wrapped his T-shirt around the boy's head. "I had to hold his head together," Kevonte said. The boy, who Johnson did not identify but who Kevonte called Josh, was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite where he required numerous stitches.More like this story
