Maynard Knestrick

Maynard Knestrick died Monday, May 3, 2004 at the age of 57. Originally from Washington County, Pa., Maynard Knestrick was a resident of Riverdale, Ga.

He grew up on the family farm in Pennsylvania and graduated from Bentworth High School in 1964 where he was a four-year member of the high school band. During that time, he was also active in the Glyde 4-H club and a member of the Pawnee Grange. He expressed an early love for music, especially the piano, which continued throughout his life.

He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. He retired as head of corporate media for Norfolk Southern Corporation where he was employed for more than 30 years. Mr. Knestrick was past president of the International Television Association. After his retirement from Norfolk-Southern he worked with his wife at their business K-Art Gallery & Custom Framing. He was also on the faculty of American Intercontinental University in Atlanta. An active member of the Rotary Club of Clayton County and a former Charter member of the Rotary Club of Henry County, Mr. Knestrick also served as a Trustee of the Georgia Rotary Student Program. He held both the Will Watt and the Hue Thomas Fellowships. His wife Kay and he served as the host family for 13 Georgia Rotary students and opened their home on many occasions to scores of other international students and visitors.

He was the son of the late Ralph E. and Emma N. Knestrick. Mr. Knestrick is survived by his wife Kay F. Knestrick; brother, R. Corwin Knestrick of Virginia; mother-in-law, Catherine J. Guibord of Jonesboro; sister-in-law Lynn S. Knestrick and nieces and nephews Christopher C. Knestrick, Allison S. Knestrick and Jonathan D. Knestrick and hundreds of international students whose lives he touched through the Georgia Rotary Student Program.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 6, 1004 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Ford-Stewart, with the Rev. L. Floyd Carmack officiating. Interment Camp Memorial.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 5 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
