William Ben Harris

Mr. William Ben Harris of Jonesboro died Monday, May 17, 2004, at Southern Regional Medical Center.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro

A church service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 19 at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, with Dr. Dean Haun and the Rev. Irvin Pearre officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Harris; daughters, Anita and Roy Pearre of Hampton and Ami Amin of Jonesboro; sister, Jackie and James Wallace of Lithia Springs; grandchildren, Davki Amin and Thbeni Amin; numerous nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion, cocker spaniel Mischief Harris.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Mr. Harris.

Blake Oliver Phillips

Mr. Blake Oliver Phillips, 43, of Riverdale, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004.

Mr. Phillips was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. Mr. Phillips is preceded in death by a brother, Mark Phillips.

Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 19 at Tara Garden Chapel, with interment to follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mrs. Donna Phillips; parents, Lemuel and Elaine Phillips of Jonesboro; daughters, Daphne Phillips and Ally Phillips of Riverdale; son, Thomas Phillips of Riverdale; brothers, Kerry and Allison Phillips of Fayetteville and Rick Phillips of Niceville, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Ralph Ponder Sr.

Mr. Ralph Ponder Sr., 91, of Sequoia Drive, Forest Park, died Monday, May 17, 2004.

Mr. Ponder was born June 11, 1913, in Fulton County, son of the late Allie Ponder and the late Lucille King Ponder. He was formerly a Captain of the Sheriff's Department and was assigned to the Clayton County Commissioners. He was a Companion of the Forest Park Masonic Lodge 075. He was formerly a member of the Board of Directors of the Southern Regional Medical Center, previously known as Clayton General Hospital. Mr. Ponder was a charter member of the Ben Hill Presbyterian Church and a current member of the Morrow Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Leonard Ponder.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 19 in the Chapel of Pope Dickson Funeral Home, with Dr. Earl Bland officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Martha Faye Ponder; son, Ralph Ponder Jr.; daughter, Martha Judy Ponder; grandchildren, Saralyn Ponder, Stephanie Thompson, Warren Ponder and Mark Watts; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Louise Webb

Homemaker

Mrs. Louise Webb, 84, of Barnesville, formerly a resident of Morrow, passed away Monday, May 17, 2004, at her residence.

Mrs. Webb was a homemaker and a member of the Morrow First United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 19 in the Morrow First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bill Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memory Gardens.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Wilson Webb; daughter, Janice Baker; stepson, Jerry Webb; sisters, Ellen Ewing and Mary and Mac McDonald; brother, Ray Patrick; grandchildren, Julia and Warren Storman, Jenifer and Jered Day, Denise and Tim Carter, Joanna Baker, Kimberly Webb, Diana and Andy Correll.
