Virginia Penney Duran

Virginia Penney Duran, 81, of McDonough, died Nov. 13, 2004. She was born in Soddy Daisy, Tenn. to Matty and Charles E. Smith. She loved her flowers and the outdoors.

She is survived by her children, Sandy and Jim Wilson, McDonough, Rick and Anna Oglesby, Newnan, Tim and Cyndi Oglesby, Newnan; brothers, Coy Smith, Louisville, Ky., Con Smith, Chattanooga, Tenn.; sister, Mildred Jordan, Red Bank, Tenn.; grandchildren, David Penney, Brandie Matthews, Jimmy Jennings, Tabatha Wilson, Marty Jennings, Tiffany Wade, Shelli Jennings, Kristi Penney, Brent Oglesby, Jason Penney, T.J. Oglesby, Taylor Oglesby; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004 at the Chapel of Cannon-Cleveland. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. Those who wish may make donations to the Alzheimer's Association or to Sacred Journey Hospice. The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 15, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Ralph Murphy Bartlett

Mr. Ralph Murphy Bartlett Sr., 79, of Jenkinsburg, Ga. died Nov. 13, 2004 at Southern Regional Medical Center. Mr. Bartlett was born on Feb. 21, 1925 in Fulton County, the son of the late Ellen Virginia Patillo and James Homer Bartlett. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching, coin collecting, his cats and being with his loving family.

Mr. Bartlett served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from IBEW Local 613 with 55 plus years.

Mr. Bartlett was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Sizemore, and brothers, Wimp Bartlett and T.A. Bartlett.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kay Howell Bartlett of Jenkinsburg; children, Buster and Teresa Creel of Jekinsburg, Ray and Gail Ertz of Jackson, Miss., Lynn Gouldthread of Jonesboro, Murphy and Rene Bartlett of Locust Grove and Norman and Laura Jones of McDonough; brothers, Jake Bartlett of Covington and Jack Bartlett of Conyers; sisters, Hazel Donaldson of Griffin, Clara Dockery of Stone Mountain and Carolyn LeFebvre of Panama City, Fla; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bartlett will be Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with the Rev. Craig Bowers officiating.
