Virginia Penney Duran

Virginia Penney Duran, 81, of McDonough, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004.

She was born in Soddy Daisy, Tenn. to Matty and Charles E. Smith. She loved her flowers and the outdoors.

She is survived by her children, Sandy and Jim Wilson, McDonough, Rick and Anna Oglesby, Newnan, Tim and Cyndi Oglesby, Newnan; brothers, Coy Smith, Louisville, Ky., Con Smith, Chattanooga, Tenn.; sister, Mildred Jordan, Red Bank, Tenn.; grandchildren, David Penney, Brandie Matthews, Jimmy Jennings, Tabatha Wilson, Marty Jennings, Tiffany Wade, Shelli Jennings, Kristi Penney, Brent Oglesby, Jason Penney, T.J. Oglesby, Taylor Oglesby; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 16 at the Chapel of Cannon-Cleveland. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.

Those who wish may make donations to the Alzheimer's Association or to Sacred Journey Hospice.

The family received friends Monday, Nov. 15, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jimmy Olin

Holloway Sr.

Mr. Jimmy Olin Holloway Sr., 63, of Riverdale died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004.

He was a retired employee of Sears Appliance Repair. Mr. Holloway was preceded in death by his mother and father, Alice and Parker Holloway Sr.; daughter, Judy Michelle Holloway; sister, Mary Alice Bryant.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17 in the Jonesboro Chapel of the Pope Dickson & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Clayton Mixon officiating. Burial will be in the Noah's Ark Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his children, Anita Waits, Sandra Scites and Jimmy Holloway Jr.; brother, Parker "Red" Holloway; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pope Dickson & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge.

James Arthur Johnson

Mr. James Arthur Johnson, 62, of Jonesboro passed away Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004.

He retired after 23 years with the Clayton County Fire Department.

Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Tara Baptist Church in Jonesboro, with Pastor Ron Little officiating.

Survivors include his children, Pamella Ballard of Locust Grove, Timothy Jerome Johnson of Griffin, Shana Jill Harden of Fayetteville and Damon Scott Johnson of Iva, S.C.; mother, Autense Johnson of Asheville, N.C.; brother, Dannie Johnson of Fletcher, N.C.; sisters, Deborah Balmes of Mars Hill, N.C. and Kaye Mathews of Asheville, N.C.; 11 grandchildren.

Ruth Mildred West

Ruth Mildred West, 76, of Knoxville, Tenn. passed away Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lester West, and sons Danny and Eddie West.

Funeral services will be today, Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. from the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Camp Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17.

Survivors include her sons, Tim West of Knoxville, Tenn. and Charlie West of Lakeland, Fla.; sister, June Gee of Riverdale; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
