The Eagle's Landing High School boys and girls basketball teams are both still searching for their first wins of the season.

Both squads dropped to 0-2 Friday night with losses at home to East Paulding.

The two Eagle's Landing teams had chances to win their games, but let second-half leads slip away, including the boys, who lost on a shot at the buzzer.

East Paulding 55, Eagle's Landing 53 (boys): East Paulding came to McDonough Friday night and stole this one from the Golden Eagles.

Leading 50-38 midway through the fourth quarter after a tip-in by Alex Paquette, the Golden Eagles appeared to have this one under control.

However, East Paulding outscored the Golden Eagles 17-3 down the stretch to win the game.

The Raiders' Chase Henry hit two-3-point shots late in the fourth quarter, including one to tie the game at 53-53. East Paulding then forced a turnover that Jabari Battle turned into the game-winning basket at the buzzer.

The loss spoiled a solid offensive effort for Luke Murton, who scored 22 points. Will Martin added 10 for Eagle's Landing.

The Golden Eagles trailed 9-7 at the end of the first quarter and at one time 18-8 in the second quarter before kicking their offense into overdrive.

Eagle's Landing used a 16-1 run at the second period and led 25-19 at break.

Murton scored six points during the run and Martin stepped up and hit shots of his own diuring the second-quarter spurt.

When Bradley Carden hit a 3-point shot early in the third quarter the Golden Eagles appeared ready to put their game on cruise control as his trey gave Eagle's Landing a 35-22 lead, but a run by East Paulding cut the lead back under double-digits at 39-30 heading into the fourth quarter.

East Paulding 52, Eagle's Landing 45 (girls): Eagle's Landing led at the end of the first and third quarters, but the sqaud wasn't ahead on the scoreboard when it counted, as the East Paulding scored 19 points in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Both offenses had trouble clicking early as Eagle's Landing led 11-8 at the end of the first quarter. The game was tied at 25-all at the break.

The two teams were plagued by turnovers in the first two quarters as Eagle's Landing gave up the ball 19 times in the first half and East Paulding 15.

Eagle's Landing extended its lead to 35-33 at the end of the third quarter.

Despite two 3-point shots by Sondra Jones in the fourth quarter, the Lady Golden Eagles couldn't catch the Lady Raiders.

Hayley Ferrell's basket early in the fourth period tied the game at 40 and Shamieka Melvin hit a shot to tie the game at 42, but it wasn't enough.
