Dennard's 3-pointer lifts Lovejoy Middle to victory

The Lovejoy Middle School boys basketball won in exciting fashion Tuesday with a 55-48 double overtime victory over Kendrick.

Lovejoy was trailing by three in regulation but Walter Dennard made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.

Lovejoy again was down in the first overtime but Punch Yancey made a shot at the buzzer to send it into double overtime.

Marquis Quiles led Lovejoy with 20 points, nine of which came in overtime. Andre Harris added 10.

The Lovejoy girls were also victorious as they beat Kendrick 26-16.

Jasmine Lee and Shayree Heard led Lovejoy with six points each. Kendrick's Shanelle Wright led all scorers with 12 points.

Morrow 44, North Clayton 18 (girls): Kayla Lewis led Morrow with 12 points, three assists and two steals. Kimberly Graves added 10 points, six rebounds and two steals while Kandis Banks chipped in 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Morrow 45, North Clayton 42 (boys): Tony Dukes led Morrow with 15 points and Donte Turnipseed scored 10.

Pointe South 59, Riverdale 24 (girls): Shamonica Hayes led Pointe South with 13 points.

Adamson 37, Mundy's Mill 36 (girls): Morgan Goss led Adamson with 14 points while Jasmine King and Vanessa Okyre scored six each.

Mundy's Mill's Krystal Gibson led all scorers with 18 points while teammates Chalyssa Roberts scored nine and Charmesia Smith scored seven.

Mundy's Mill 49, Adamson 34 (boys): Leading Adamson in scoring were Antonio Bell with eight, Kadeem Roberson with seven, Jerramy Barnett with five and Monterrio Epps with four. No Mundy's Mill details were reported.
