A 29-year-old Riverdale man was found shot to death in his apartment, his bedroom ransacked around him.
Telly Bradford lived alone at Lake Regency Apartments on Riverdale Road and had been out with friends Monday night, Clayton County Police Capt. Jeff Turner said.
"We know he was at home after 1 a.m.," Turner said.
Around 1:50 p.m. Bradford's 29-year-old girlfriend came to the apartment and found that the door had been forced open. She entered and found Bradford in his bed with multiple bullet wounds to his upper body. Turner said he had been dead for some time.
Though the bedroom was ransacked Turner said investigators did not know of anything that was missing from the apartment. They found four or five spent shell casings at the scene. There were no indications that the killing was drug related, Turner said, and Bradford had no criminal history in the county short of a few traffic citations.
As police detectives and members of the Clayton County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit worked the scene behind yellow tape soaked by rain, some of Bradford's friends huddled in a breezeway across the parking lot. They didn't want to talk.
Greer Brown said he lived in an apartment next to Bradford's but did not know him well. He said he had heard nothing Monday night.
Brown said nothing like this had happened at the complex in the four years that he had lived there.
