Martin Melton Jr., 81, of McDonough died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004. He was born in Eatonton, Ga. to the late Florence and Martin LeCroy Melton Sr. He served our country during World War II with the United States Marine Corps. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3 at the chapel of Cannon-Cleveland Funeral Directors, with the Rev. Lewis Strickland and Dr. Brian W. Lee officiating. Interment will follow at 5 p.m. in Pinegrove Cemetery in Eatonton with military honors. Survivors include his wife, Alice Melton; son, Martin LeCroy and Judy Melton III of Hartwell, Ga.; granddaughter, Rachel Victoria Melton of Atlanta, Ga.; stepdaughter, Wanda Anderson of Stockbridge, Ga.; stepsons, Randall McWaters and Donnie McWaters. The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Philadelphia United Methodist Church.
