Loss not all bad for Forest Park's Gallo

From Staff Reports

King me: Forest Park senior football player Jimmy Gallo had one good thing happen to him during Mt. Zion's 45-0 blowout of his team Friday night n he was named Homecoming King.

Total team effort: Mt. Zion had standout efforts on both sides of the ball in their victory over Forest Park Friday. Aubrey Dorsey scored two touchdowns and surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in rushing, Martin Ward scored two TDs, Derek Slaughter blocked a field goal and scored a TD and Rashad Cunningham rushed for 50 yards in the second half.

Busy week for Boynton: Eagle's Landing Christian Academy senior wide receiver/defensive back Jonathan Boynton was pretty busy last week.

Tuesday, he finished ninth in the Henry County cross country meet. He was ELCA's top placer, helping the Chargers to a fourth place finish in the event.

"Jonathan Boynton is the best cross country runner in the county," ELCA head football coach Tim Luke said. "He had the best times in the county last year and he finished ninth in the county without any training. There's no doubt he's the best cross country runner in the county."

Boyton was a two-time GISA all-state selection in cross country and was a one-time GISA all-state selection in track.

Boynton also plays basketball at ELCA.

"He is a competitor," Luke said.

Cooper is the man on the spot for ELCA: When it comes to recovering fumbles for touchdowns, Eagle's Landing Christian Academy's Russ Cooper is the man.

In the team's 14-7 victory over Whitefield Academy Friday, he recovered a fumble after a blocked punt and ran it in for a touchdown.

It was his second fumble recovery for a score this year ? his first was in the season opener against Athens Christian.

Cooper played the Whitefield game with a hurt knee and not only shined on defense but was the leading rusher with 60 yards.

"He is a warrior," Luke said.

Huber racking up tackles: Alec Huber has definitely stood out at tight end for ELCA but he's also leading the team in tackles.

He led the team with 13 tackles against Whitefield and is averaging more than 10 tackles a game this season.
