The Clayton County Commission on Tuesday moved closer to approving intersection improvements intended to alleviate congestion created by the new Wal-Mart on Lovejoy Road. The commissioners placed the item on next week's business agenda, making its approval likely. But there are still obstacles that could prevent the project from being completed by Wal-Mart's opening. Because Ga. Highway 19/41 is a state road, Georgia Department of Transportation must approve the plans, said Andy Adams, the assistant director of transportation and development. The state has reviewed the plans and given comments, but has not approved them yet, said Terry Legvold, a consultant for transportation and development.More like this story
