Clayton County has been added to the Georgia counties that are eligible for disaster assistance to help residents and local governments recover from the effects of Hurricane Ivan. Residents who believe they may qualify for aid can call FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA. The hearing or speech impaired may call at 1-800-462-7585. Upon inspection, applicants could qualify for the agency's Individuals and Households Program. Special low-interest loans are also available to renters, homeowners, business owners, and non-profit organizations. Homeowners may be eligible for up to $200,000 in loans for real estate repairs. Businesses may apply for up to $1.5 million to repair or replace assets physically damaged by the disaster. FEMA has already distributed about $10,000 in disaster assistance in Clayton County.More like this story
