Mr. Robert Cornelius (Bob) Bentley died Monday night, Oct. 18, 2004, at his home in Dawsonville after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Bentley was born in Athens July 22, 1947, son of the late Thomas P. and Sara Woodruff Bentley. The family moved from Winder to Hapeville in 1949. After graduation in 1965 from Jonesboro High School Mr. Bentley attended Clayton College before Army service aboard a helicopter gunship in the Vietnam War. He worked as an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration in Hampton for a number of years before forming ITAP, an aviation services company.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 in the chapel of Pope Dickson Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev. Thomas Stubbs officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Memorial Park.
Survivors include his daughter, Crichton Bentley of Atlanta; son, Robert Cabaness (Bo) Bentley of Jonesboro; brothers, James L. Bentley of Jekyll Island, Terrence L. Bentley of Jonesboro and Phillip N. Bentley of Oxford; sister, Sally Hinkle of Marysville, Ohio.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23.
