Clayton County and Jonesboro police chased a person on a motorcycle around the city of Jonesboro before being ordered to end the pursuit. Clayton County Police Sgt. Phillip Bailey tried to stop the motorcycle on southbound Tara Boulevard near Smith Street around 8:35 a.m. Tuesday after a lookout was issued for the cycle. The cycle did not stop but turned onto Fayetteville Road. Officers pursued the bike around Jonesboro, sometimes as speeds of 60 to 70 mph. At one point an officer on foot tried to grab the cyclist near the intersection of Fayetteville Road and North Avenue, but the driver sped up and hit the officer. At that point Bailey and the other officers were ordered to end the pursuit. Jonesboro Sgt. Pat Cauchy picked up the chase, according to Bailey's report. Clayton County Police Capt. Jeff Turner said the Jonesboro officer also ended the pursuit without capturing the cyclist.More like this story
