Reverend William Jack Fordham

Reverend William Jack Fordham, 77, of Rex, Ga. and formerly of Griffin, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at the Christian Ministries Hospice.

Reverand Fordham was born in Experiment, Ga. Sept. 24, 1927, to the late A.Z. Fordham and the late Varella Kendrick Fordham. Reverend Fordham was a veteran of the United States Army and was the former director for the outreach ministries at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church for nine years. Reverend Fordham was a member of Southern Crescent Baptist Church in McDonough.

Reverend Fordham is survived by his wife, Sarah Mathis Fordham; children, Terry Keith Fordham of Conyers, Jane and Clarence Harbin of Jonesboro, Scott Fordham of Stockbridge, Phyllis and Jim Richardson of Fayetteville, Donna and Pat Corrales of Atlanta; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Doris Stitcher of Griffin, Claris Ison of Griffin, Ruby Nelson of Griffin, Shirley McGee of Griffin; brothers, Mickey Fordham of Tyrone and Jimmy Fordham of Dalton; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Reverend Jack Fordham will be conducted Thursday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Hardie and Dr. Ted Moody will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may visit the family from 3 until 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Reverend Fordham will be carried to the church to lie in state for 1 hour prior to the services.

Harold Robert Smith

Mr. Harold Robert Smith, 66, of Hampton, Ga. passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at Spalding Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Smith was born April 5, 1938, in Douglasville, Ga. to the late Walter P. Smith and the late Essie Stamps Smith. He was retired from the Atlanta Water Department. Mr. Smith was a member of the Griffin First Assembly of God.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Jean Boyd Smith; children, Lindsey Smith of Hampton, Douglas Smith of Hampton, Teresa Parsons of Hampton, and Robin and Roger Bailey of Barnesville; three grandchildren; three great-grandsons; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Barbara Smith of Ellenwood, Ga.; sister, Joyce Pardue of Woodstock; sister-in-law, Jean Sharp of Jacksonville, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Harold R. Smith will be conducted Friday, Oct. 29 at 12 noon at First Assembly of God. The Rev. Randy Valimont will officiate. Interment will follow in the Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge, Ga.

Friends may visit the family from 7 until 9 p.m. today.
