Police investigate dead body
By Ed Brock The man, whose name police did not release pending notification of next of kin, had apparently been living in a clearing in the woods where his body was found around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, Clayton County Police Capt. Jeff Turner said. Two state inmate workers who knew the man went to check on him around that time and, not seeing him near his pickup truck or campsite in the clearing, they asked their supervisor to check on the man. The supervisor found the body lying face down in the woods near the clearing. There were no signs of trauma, Turner said, but the state medical examiner is performing an autopsy. "Hopefully in this type of case they'll expedite the exam," Turner said. "If it is foul play we can't afford to wait around." Turner said the man worked for the county's Parks and Recreation Department.More like this story
