A state prisoner walked off a work detail at the Clayton County landfill and remains at large.

Quincy Michael Godwin, 24, who was serving time for theft by receiving stolen property, disappeared from the landfill on Hastings Bridge Road in Lovejoy around 2 p.m. Thursday, said Mickey Camp, warden of the Clayton County Correctional Institution that oversees the state convict work teams. Godwin, originally from Stone Mountain, was working near the gate of the landfill when he disappeared.

Clayton County police and sheriff's deputies joined the search for Godwin but as of Thursday evening he had not been found.

Godwin is a white male standing 6-feet 1-inch, weighing 180 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with information about Godwin should call Clayton County Police at (770) 477-3648 or the Clayton County Sheriff's Office at (770) 477-4413.
