The Jonesboro volleyball team kept its record perfect Wednesday afternoon with a sweep off Mt. Zion and South Atlanta.
The Lady Cardinals (14-0) and South Atlanta 25-0, 25-0.
The Lady Cardinals will join all the other volleyball teams in the area Saturday in the annual Clayton County tournament.
Jonesboro rolls to easy win on softball diamond
The Jonesboro Lady Cardinals erupted for 11 runs in the sixth inning en route to a 19-0 pasting of the Stone Mountain Lady Pirates Wednesday. Heather Lowry was the winning pitcher, striking out 17 and getting an RBI at the plate.
Donisha Harrison led Jonesboro with four RBIs, Rachel Nutter and Kellsie Currin had three RBIs, Alarie Smith, Megan Baity and Heather McCarty each had two RBIs and Nicole Soto had an RBI.
Jonesboro improves to 7-2 overall, 5-0 in Region 5-AAAA play.
The Clayton College and State University men's soccer team kept its unbeaten streak alive Wednesday, blanking North Greenville College 4-0 in Tigerville, SC.
The victory sets up a match of the last two unbeaten teams in the Peach Belt Conference Saturday as the Lakers face off against the University of North Carolina-Pembroke, a team that currently has a 5-0 record. The 1 p.m. match will feature the nation's fourth-ranked team in UNC Pembroke and the 13th-ranked Clayton State squad. in Clayton State.
