Second half Charge keys comeback win

Down 13-7 at halftime and playing without quarterback Cole Springer, Eagle's Landing Christian Academy slammed the door on North Oconee during the final two quarters of a 33-13 victory at home.

Senior Brent Patrick rushed for 125 yards on 10 carries and teammate Kerk Murray added 121 on nine rushing attempts as the Chargers improved to 4-1 heading into Friday's trip to Glascock County.

Russ Cooper settled down behind center after a shaky start offensively and ELCA received a huge boost from its defense – which held North Oconee to 1-yard on 14 rushing attempts in the second half.

"I'm so proud of them for coming out and fighting in the second half," Chargers head coach Tim Luke said.

Linebacker Jason Stoff led the team with 13 tackles and Alex Huber added 10. Huber also scored twice on a 44-yard reverse play and on a 59-yard pass from Cooper.

Huber caught all three of Cooper's completions on seven attempts for 76 passing yards in the victory.

Murray added a 40-yard touchdown run to highlight his evening, while Doug Campbell had 10 attempts for 55 yards rushing, including a 6-yard touchdown run.

In other games Friday:

n Douglass 40, Morrow 6: Reginald Williams scored on a 3-yard run for the Mustangs, who fell to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in Region 2-AAAAA.

n Cedar Grove 20, Jonesboro 9: In a Region 5-AAAA crossover game between subregion rivals, the Cardinals fell to 2-2-1 on the season despite a touchdown pass from Daniel Cazenave to Chris Ekpo. Patrick Saxby added a field goal in the loss.

n Griffin 62, Stockbridge 6: Bay Davis scored the Tigers' lone touchdown on a fumble recovery, as Stockbridge fell to 1-5 and 0-2 in Region 2-AAAAA. Griffin improved to 4-1, 1-0.

n Whitewater 30, Dutchtown 0: The shutout loss dropped the Bulldogs to 1-4 in their first varsity season of play.
