Clayton County police need the public's help in finding who dumped the bodies of two men behind a Jonesboro shopping center.
Police got a call from a man around 9:40 a.m. Sunday about the bodies behind the Any Lab Test in Arrowhead Shopping Center on Tara Boulevard, Clayton County Police Capt. Jeff Turner said.
"He called and said he'd been drinking but he thought there were two dead bodies there," Turner said.
The caller did not wait for police to arrive, but a check of the area led to the discovery of the bodies of 57-year-old Otis James Williams and 37-year-old Charles W. Ammons, both of Atlanta.
Both men had been shot, but not where their bodies were found.
"They weren't killed behind that building," Turner said. "We're still trying to find a crime scene where the killing took place."
Turner said the bodies were probably dumped in the area some time late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
Phlebotomist Tina Med said she was working at Any Lab Test until 2 p.m. Saturday, but she didn't know about the bodies until she came back to work on Monday.
"My coworker called and told me. She told me not to use the back door," Med said.
Med said the area around the lab is "not a bad place." However, she sees a lot of people walking around and behind the lab who appear to be drunk or on drugs.
Turner said investigators don't know if the killings were connected to drugs. Ammons had served 10 years in prison for an aggravated assault in DeKalb County and Williams had some small charges, including drug charges, made against him in Atlanta, Turner said.
Anyone with any information on the case is asked to call the Clayton County police at (770) 477-3605.
