Pro-choice is pro-freedom and pro-privacy

To the editor,

Speaking as a moderate Democrat, I want to remind your readers that we who are pro-choice are not "pro-abortion" - but we are pro-privacy, pro-liberty, and pro-freedom. We are for keeping birth control legal; ending crisis pregnancies safe and legally; and we support comprehensive sex education in an effort to curtail the number of unplanned pregnancies. And we believe our private decisions should be in our own hands - not in the hands of state legislators. If the anti-choice groups have their way, eventually most forms of birth control and all safe abortion will be banned in this country, state by state.

I believe the anti-choice movement is motivated by some men who are trying to regain control of their wives and daughters - control they lost in the 1960's and 1970's. Do we want to go back to those times? - Do we want to go back to the years before Roe vs. Wade in 1973 - when an estimated 5,000 American women died every year as a result of unsafe abortions?

There will be a "Walk for Women's Lives" on April 17th, in Atlanta at the State Capitol. If you care about freedom, privacy, and saving women's lives, show up! Find out more at www.WalkforWomenGeorgia.org
