Louise Awtrey, 74, of Atlanta, Ga., died Thursday, April 14, 2005.
She was born in Flowery Branch, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Hines and Mageline Crowe Bennett. Mrs. Awtrey worked for the Dekalb County Police Department, serving the community as a school crossing guard, and started a flower shop, serving the community for 32 years.
Mrs. Awtrey is survived by her husband, Alvin Jack Awtrey, Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Jack Awtrey, Austell, Ga., Joe and Brenda Awtrey, Locust Grove, Ga., John and Judy Awtrey, Franklin, N.C., and Matthew and Dawn Awtrey, Franklin, Ga.; daughters, Mollie Awtrey, Atlanta, Ga., and Mary Awtrey, Rex, Ga.; sisters, Jeanette Smallwood, Forest Park, Ga., and Geneva Martin, Jasper, Ga.; brothers, David Bennett, Buford, Ga., and Royce Bennett, Baltimore, Md.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and half brothers and half sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2005, at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.cannon-cleveland.com.
