A Jonesboro woman was arrested in connection with a hit and run involving a 12-year-old boy Tuesday afternoon. Her father who came to retrieve her vehicle after her arrest was arrested on an unrelated charge. Shannon May, 33, ran a red light and hit the boy as he was crossing Flint River Road near Thomas Road around 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, Clayton County Police Capt. Jeff Turner said. The boy suffered scrapes and bruises. An officer stopped May in her Chevy S-10 pickup truck about five minutes later on Flint River near Homewood Drive. She was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, a red light violation, driver's license not on person and defective equipment in connection with a broken windshield. May then called her father, Michael Lee Stewart, 51, with whom she lives and asked him to pick up the truck. On his arrival officers checked his license and discovered that there was a warrant for his arrest on a probation violation.More like this story
