Three local soccer teams will be gunning for area titles tonight. The Jonesboro girls and boys teams will be playing for the Region 5-AAAA championships while the Eagle's Landing girls are playing for the Region 3-AAAA crown. Here is a glance at region tournament action tonight: Region 3-AAAA: The Eagle's Landing girls (14-0-1) play at Hardaway tonight for the region title. Eagle's Landing, the seventh-ranked team in Class AAAA, advanced to the championship game by beating Warner Robins 8-0 Tuesday. Eagle's Landing has outscored its opponents 106-7 and has recorded nine shutouts. Hardaway (11-2) advanced by beating Upson-Lee 6-1 Wednesday. In boys' action, Eagle's Landing (7-6-2) plays at Warner Robins (15-2) for third place in the region tournament. Eagle's Landing lost 3-0 at Hardaway Tuesday. Region 5-AAAA: The Jonesboro girls (10-4-1) play host to North Atlanta (6-7-1) today at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Cardinals earned a spot in the region championship game by beating Columbia 9-1 Wednesday while North Atlanta beat Stone Mountain 3-0. The Jonesboro boys (11-2-1) play Columbia (11-2-1) today at Avondale Stadium. Jonesboro beat North Atlanta 5-2 Wednesday. Columbia advanced to the championship game by beating North Clayton 4-3 in overtime Wednesday. The North Clayton boys play at North Atlanta today at 5:30 p.m. for third place.More like this story
