Thirteenth District Congressman David Scott said he is hosting a health fair to inform his constituents and to make sure they live longer.

The fair hosted will come to Mundy's Mill High School in Jonesboro Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The address is 9652 Fayetteville Road.

"Here in Clayton County we've got something going," he said. "We can help somebody get better healthcare so they can live longer."

The fair will address issues such as obesity, high blood pressure, and pre-natal care. It also will inform participants on how to find better programs for purchasing prescription medicine, Scott said.

More than 75 area non-profit organizations, hospitals, government agencies, and members of the health care industry have agreed to participate in the Health Fair, according to Scott's news release.

The following will be present: Southern Regional Health System, Emory Healthcare, Grady Health System, Henry Medical Center, Northlake Medical Center, the American Heart, Diabetes, and Stroke Associations, Riverdale Fire Services, Gwinnett County Health Department, American Red Cross, Pfizer, Inc., CDC, Social Security Administration, FDA, AID Atlanta, and many others. This group will provide a diverse selection of free health screenings, cooking, CPR and fitness demonstrations, and information about important health issues. Additionally, attendees of the Health Fair can participate in a blood drive, hear from Congressman Scott and special guest speakers, and enroll on site in health assistance programs like Medicare, Medicaid, PeachCare, prescription drug assistance, and others for the uninsured.
