Daniel Weldon Hanes

Daniel Weldon Hanes, 66, of Stockbridge, Ga., passed away on Aug. 5, 2005. Mr. Hanes served in the National Guard and was a life-time member of the Kiwanis Club. He was also a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake City, Ga.

Memorial services for Mr. Hanes will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Horis A. Ward Funeral Homes, Tara Chapel. Interment will follow at Westminister Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, Aug. 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m.

Survivors include: two daughters: Terri Hanes Moreland and husband Tom of Jonesboro, Ga. and Tara Britt and husband William of Statesboro, Ga.; grandsons: Alan Drummond of Boston, Mass. and Andrew Moreland of Jonesboro, Ga.; brother: Hayden Hanes of Virginia Beach, Va.; sisters: Sondra William of LaGrange, Ga. and Glenna Gaston of Milner, Ga.; aunt, Grace Slappey of Griffin, Ga.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mr. Hanes was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jackie Callaway Hanes.

Herman J. McArthur

Herman J. McArthur, age 76, of Stockbridge, Ga., died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005. He was born in Trion, Ga.; son to the late John Ausbin and Emma Viola White McArthur. Mr. McArthur served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. After more than 31 years with Delta Air Lines, Mr. McArthur retired as a foreman in quality control.

Mr. McAurthur is survived by daughter, Myra L. McCary; son, Thomas S. McArthur, son, Timothy I. McArthur; daughter, Ramona M. Stacey; grandchildren, Scott McArthur, Shawn McCary, Ashley Treadaway, Brooke Hatcher, Sean Stacey, Bradley Hatcher; great grandchildren, Samantha McArthur, Gracie Treadaway, Caden Blalock; brother, James A. McArthur. His wife Sara Kirby McArthur preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Minister Ken Davidson officiating. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 8, 2005 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
