Man shoots wife and self, neither die

Police say an Ellenwood man shot his wife several times in the lower body and then shot himself in the mouth in front of their 2-year-old daughter.

Neither the man, 31-year-old Marice Roberts, nor his wife 30-year-old Damitta Roberts, died from their wounds, according to Clayton County Assistant Police Chief Jeff Turner.

Around 7 a.m. Monday officers responded to the Roberts' house on Sapphire Circle and were directed to go to another house two doors down where Damitta Roberts had run after being shot. After contacting Damitta Roberts they went back to the Roberts house and found Marice Roberts in the driveway.

The officers found a .38-caliber revolver in the hallway of the house and concluded that Marice Roberts, after shooting his wife, shot himself and then ran outside into the driveway.

Both adults were flown to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment. Their daughter is in protective custody.
