Middle Schools open football season

The M.D. Roberts Middle School football team scored touchdowns on both offense and defense to open the season with an 18-6 victory against Kendrick.

Antonio Allen scored touchdowns of 14 and 27 yards and Rhaskra Willaims scored on a 50-yard fumble recovery as M.D. Roberts defeated Kendrick 18-6.

North Clayton 26, Forest Park 0:

The North Clayton Middle School football team puts up plenty of points and also used some stingy defense en route to a season-opening win.

Darius Robinson threw a 40-yard pass to Milton Artis to get the scoring started.

Cameron Gregg added a 35-yard run, Nehemiah Favors a 2-yard scamper and Charles Anderson an 8-yard sprint to help pace the victory.

Lovejoy 10, Jonesboro 0:

Hondo Carter scored on a 3-yard run and Terrell Custus added the t2-point conversion to pace Lovejoy to the win. Lovejoy also scored on a saftey.

Mundy's Mill 33, Sequoyah 0: The Mundy's Mill Middle School football team rolled to a 33-0 win against Sequoyah, which was playing its first ever football game. No details were reported from the Mundy's Mill staff.

However, Sequoyah coach Michael Breedlove pointed to the outstanding play off Jatarus Hughley, who had several tackles.
