From Staff Reports
A Morrow man was gunned down by two other men as he waited for a friend. At 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday Clayton County police officers responded to The Pines of Southlake Apartments at 985 Mt. Zion Road in reference to a shooting, according to Clayton County Assistant Police Chief Jeff Turner. Upon the officers' arrival, they found a Hispanic male, Martin Zabdiel Rangel Gutierrez, lying face down on the ground. Witnesses told the officer that the victim was standing outside waiting for a friend when two Hispanic males passed him. The men said something to the victim in Spanish, and then one of the suspects pulled a firearm, possibly a revolver, and shot three times at the victim, striking him twice. He was transported to Southern Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9 p.m. The first suspect is a Hispanic male, medium build, with facial hair. He was last seen wearing baggy clothes, a big insulated coat and a blue hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect is a Hispanic male, heavy set, with a thin beard. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous and the shooting appears to be gang-related. Investigators are asking anyone with information to please contact Clayton County Criminal Investigation Division at (770) 477-3747.More like this story
