The Jonesboro High School girls basketball team opened the Region 5E-AAAA with a 58-42 win Friday night against North Atlanta. The Lady Cardinals (5-1 overall, 1-0 region) got 16 points from both Jawanda Duffey and Lonnika Thompson, while Jasmine Duffey added 11. Jonesboro travels today to Miller Grove. Stockbridge (girls) 42, Eagle's Landing 27: Fatimah Thomas and Kelli Riles each scored nine points to pace the Lady Tigers past the Lady Golden Eagles in a Region 3N-AAAA contest. Stockbridge forced 21 second-half turnovers. Julia Paquette led Eagle's Landing with 11 points. Stockbridge (boys) 58, Eagle's Landing 55: The Tigers led by nine points in the second half and never let the lead slip away. Taylor Harps led Stockbridge with 11 points, while Steven Payton had eight. Marcus Williams led Eagle's Landing with 12 points. Griffin (boys) 72, Dutchtown 49: The Bulldogs missed 22 free throws as lost to the Region 3-AAAA foe. Jacarus Hart had 11 points to pace Dutchtown. Griffin (girls) 64, Dutchtown 43: Erica Thompson had a school-record 32 points in the losing effort.More like this story
