Stabbing suspects captured in Rex

The Riverdale couple suspected in the stabbing and robbery of a man at their home has been arrested.

Police had been looking for Kevin Lane Keeton, 39, and Karen Lynn Schuster, 40, both of Whipporwill Way, since the Jan. 25 attack on 23-year-old Jonathan Roshaun Hamler. On Tuesday around 1:30 a.m. members of the Clayton County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Squad and the sheriff's newly formed "Cobra Unit" arrested Keeton and Schuster at a trailer in Rex, according to the sheriff's office.

The fugitive squad received information that the couple was staying at a motel in the Macon area. They went to the motel only to discover that Keeton and Schuster had checked out an hour before, but the investigators were able to determine that a friend of Schuster had rented the room and that friend lived in the trailer where the couple were later discovered.

As of Wednesday the friend had not yet been charged with a crime but the investigation was continuing. Keeton and Schuster have been charged with aggravated assault.

Hamler told police that he went to Keeton and Schuster's home to sell them a $20 bag of marijuana, at which time they stabbed him, took the marijuana and $100 in cash and ran away. Hamler suffered stab wounds to his chest and abdomen and other injuries.
