Mary Lou Fowler Arterburn

A memorial service is planned for Mary Lou Fowler Arterburn, 96, who died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005.

Born Feb. 23, 1908, in Madison County, Ga., Mrs. Arterburn was the wife of the late Eugene Byron Arterburn and the daughter of the late William Alexander Fowler and Zada Faris Brown Fowler.

Survivors include brother Lewis Fowler, sister, Eleanor Fowler, and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Arterburn had donated her body to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga.

The memorial service was Saturday, Feb. 6 at Liberty Baptist Church, 1077 Highway 314, Riverdale, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Liberty Baptist Church.

Bertram John


Bertram John Gamble, 76, of Jonesboro died, Monday, Feb. 7, 2005.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian N. Gamble. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Kathy and Bill Goryca, Laurie and Mark Hatalla, and Lisa and Ed Rice; sons, Brian Gamble, Bruce Gamble and his fianc?e Becky Tyson; grandchildren, Gaitlyn and James Goryca, Whitney and Erin Perry, Jared Rice, David and Daniel Hatalla, and Shelby Gamble; brother, James Gamble; sisters, Isabell Dressler, Lois Ballard, Ouida Hammond, Frances Quirie. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Gamble served in the Canadian Navy from 1944-1946, in the Canadian Army from 1951-1954, and during the Korean Conflict, with the Canadian Army. Mr. Gamble was a member of the Korean Veterans Association.

Donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, Feb. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Pope Dickson & Son Funeral Home-Jonesboro Chapel.

Funeral Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Jonesboro Chapel with the Rev. John Elliott officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro City Cemetery.

Curtis E. Power Sr.

Curtis E. Power Sr. of Forest Park died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005.

Chapel services begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10. Interment will follow at Colbert Cemetery in Colbert, Ga.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Power of Forest Park; son, Curtis "Gene" and Donyce Power Jr. of Newnan, Ga.; sister, Mary Carter of Lake City, Ga.; stepsister, Ann and Bill Threlkeld of Horshoe, N.C.; stepbrother, Jack and Sarah Barnette of Bogart, Ga.; granddaughter, Rebecca Hurst; nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
