Voadus "Blackie" Blackwell

Voadus "Blackie" Blackwell., 78, of Jonesboro passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005.

He was retired from Delta Air Lines.

He is survived by his wife, Louise; children, Gary W. Blackwell of Jacksonville, Fla., Mickey V. Blackwell of Hampton, and Nancy M. Blackwell of Jonesboro; brothers, Curtis Blackwell of Otto, N.C. and Haskell Blackwell of Seneca, S.C.; sister, Martha Smith of Westminister, S.C.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 in the chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home with Dr. Lanny Loe and the Rev. Greg Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mattie Marie Cato

Mattie Marie Cato of Lovejoy died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005.

She is survived by her husband, William Roy Cato of Lovejoy; daughters, Royce Marie Daffin of Marianna, Fla. and Cathy Leigh Hammond of Opelika, Ala.; sister, Lillian Kerr of Morrow; brother, T.E. Henderson of Cypress, Fla.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at Sherwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Jeff Gongwer and the Rev. Mike Henderson officiating.

Bertram John Gamble

Bertram John Gamble, age 76, of Jonesboro died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian N. Gamble. He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Kathy and Bill Goryca, Laurie and Mark Hatalla, and Lisa and Ed Rice; sons, Brian Gamble, Bruce Gamble and his fianc? Becky Tyson; seven grandchildren; Gaitlyn and James Goryca, Whitney and Erin Perry, Jared Rice, David and Daniel Hatalla, and Shelby Gamble; brother, James Gamble; sisters, Isabell Dressler, Lois Ballard, Ouida Hammond, and Frances Quirie. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Gamble served in the Canadian Navy from 1944-1946, in the Canadian Army from 1951-1954, and during the Korean Conflict with the Canadian Army. Mr. Gamble was a member of the Korean Veterans Association.

Donations can be made to The American Cancer Society.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Pope Dickson & Son Funeral Home - Jonesboro Chapel.

Funeral Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Jonesboro Chapel with the Rev. John Elliott officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro City Cemetery.

Doris Kenney

Doris Kenney, 83, of Fayetteville passed away Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005.

She is survived by her children, Larry D. Chupp of Acworth, Linda A. Mann of College Park, Kenneth C. Chupp of Garden Grove, Calif., Joan L. Williams of Hagerstown, Ind., Wayne G. Kenney of Peachtree City, Timothy N. Kenney of Fayetteville, and Danny W. Kenney of Griffin; sister, Lois Chestnut of Commerce; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 in the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Anthony Mann and the Rev. Robbie Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Shadnor First Baptist Church Cemetery.
