The main gate at Army Garrison Fort McPherson is closed and traffic is being diverted to two other gates while a new main gate facility is built. Until the new main gate opens in about four to six weeks the Lee Street Gate will be the 24-hour, seven-day a week access point, according to garrison spokesman Ron Morton. From 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. it will only be open to passenger vehicles with Department of Defense decals and after 6 p.m. non-DoD civilians can only enter that gate with an escort. The Walker Avenue Gate will take over the duties of the main gate but will only be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Passes and decals will be issued from that gate.More like this story
