Archie Chester McGarity

Mr. Archie Chester McGarity, age 96, of McDonough, died Jan. 1, 2005 at Henry Medical Center. Mr. McGarity was born in McDonough, the son of the late Elizabeth Bonner and James McGarity. Mr. Archie was a lifelong resident of McDonough, where he was self-employed and owned his own service station.

He was the oldest living member of First Baptist Church of McDonough, where he served as secretary of Sunday School for 25 years, from 1962-87. He served on the Henry County Board of Commissioners from 1955-57. His wife Louise Stewart McGarity preceded Mr. Archie in death in 1995.

Survivors are his daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Jim Firebaugh, and Sharon and Joe Anderson, all of McDonough; grandchildren, Martain and Mickey Stanley, Jim Firebaugh, Stan Firebaugh, Brian and Tracy Anderson, and Kristi and Wade Langston; and great-grandchildren, Mhari Patterson, Kasey Firebaugh, Harrison Firebaugh and Jack Anderson.

Funeral services for Mr. Archie McGarity will be Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the McDonough First Baptist Church, with Dr. Jerry Smith and Rev. Glen G. Waldrop officiating. Interment will be at Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Pearl S. Estes

Mrs. Pearl S. Estes, 84, of Rex, passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ward Estes.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Jerry Neal, of McDonough; son and daughter-in-law, Garey and Connie Estes, of Hampton; grandchildren, Christy Sheppard, Holli Butler, Mendy Gregory, Adam Estes, Jacob Burleson and Lindsey Burleson; great-grandchildren, Victoria Sheppard, Michaela Sheppard, Alyssa Butler, Benjamin Carroll Gregory; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at 3 p.m. at The Rock Baptist Church, with remains placed in state at 2 p.m. Rev. Paul Aday, Rev. Jeff Gongwer and Rev. Mike Henderson will officiate. Interment will be at The Rock Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. H. J. (Jack) Nadeau

H.J. (Jack) Nadeau, age 88, of McDonough, died Dec. 30, 2004. He was born in Minneapolis to the late Napoleon and Maude Nadeau. He proudly served our country in the United States Army as a paratrooper during World War II, and he was a member of St. James Catholic Church and was active at the Heritage Senior Center in McDonough.

Jack is survived by his son, Stephen and Cathy Nadeau, of McDonough; daughter, Mary Nadeau, of Minnesota; granddaughters, Jean Nadeau, McDonough, Stephanie Nadeau, McDonough, and Jamacia Steward, of Minnesota; and brother, Bill Nadeau, of Mexico.

Doris Jeanette Gay

Doris Jeanette Gay, age 74, of Locust Grove, passed away Jan. 1, 2005. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by husband, CSM Robert Felton Gay.

She is survived by children, Robert Dean Gay and Eleina Sokolin, of Savannah, Janice and Mack Ogren, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Michael and Mary Gay, of Locust Grove, Jeanniene and Ricky Johnson, of Locust Grove; sisters, Sybil Richard, of Valparaiso, Fla., Nancy Rice, of Fayetteville, and Joan Rice, of Grier, S.C.; 25 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were to be held at 11 a.m. today at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Mack Ogren officiating.
