The Clayton County Branch of the NAACP will host a town hall meeting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to discuss airport concerns surrounding the fifth runway project.
Construction for the project has raised the eyebrows of several residents in the northern part of the county, who worry about the effect of blasting to their homes.
Homeowners are also beginning to question the airport on its dispersal of noise abatement money, which could be used to relocate qualified residents once the 9,000-foot runway opens in 2006, said Dexter Matthews, the president of the Clayton County Branch of the NAACP.
Both the county's and the airport's upper leadership are scheduled to attend the meeting at M.L. King Jr. Elementary School, 5745 West Lee's Mill Road, College Park.
