It's been nearly a month since the Henry County Warhawks won the Class AAAA state baseball championship and the team is still raking in honors.
The Warhawks have been ranked No. 18 in the Student Sports Southeast Regional Rankings.
Henry County started the season with a four-game losing streak but came back to qualify as the No. 3 seed out of Region 3-AAAA in the Class AAAA state playoffs.
Henry County swept Bainbridge, Statesboro and Marist in the first three rounds. The Warhawks then beat Heritage two games to one in the semifinals with each game being decided by one-run.
Henry beat Lee County 2-1 in game one of the state championship series but lost 14-10 in game 2.
Henry County then won a 16-14 slugfest to take the state championship.
Henry County, which finished the season at 25-10, went 10-2 in the state playoffs and played every series on the road.
Three other Georgia teams were ranked in the regional standings and two made the national rankings.
Chattahoochee, the Class AAAAA state champion, was ranked No. 4 in the region rankings and 11th in the nation.
Columbus, the Class AAA state champion, was ranked No. 12 in the region and 40th in the nation.
Lee County was ranked No. 19 in the regional rankings.
