Eddie Oberst Mr. Eddie Oberst of Jackson passed away July 8, 2005 of natural causes. Mr. Oberst was recently retired as an educator after 30 years at Jonesboro High School and served as a volunteer fireman in Worthville in Butts County. Mr. Oberst passed away while on a retirement trip in Poland researching his genealogy. He was preceded in death by his father, George Oberst, and sister, Patsy Oberstand, and is survived by his mother, Helene Oberst; brother Tom and Lana Oberst and nieces, Lindsay and Kelsey Oberst, Senoia; Uncle Edward and Dorothea Oberst, Clearwater, FL.; aunts, Clara O. Masley, Newark, DE.; Virginia Korizon, Conyers, Frances Oberst, Panama City, FL.; and many cousins. A funeral mass will be held Friday, July 22, 2005 at 10 a.m. at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church with interment to follow at Westview cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Philip Benz Catholic Church, St. Vincent de Paul Society, 591 Flint River Rd. Jonesboro, Ga. 30238. Horis A. Ward - Tara Chapel, Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements. (770) 471-7171. James Cone Mr. James R. Cone, 82, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, July 19, 2005. He was a member of the Riverdale Christian Church where he was an Elder in the church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Eula Cone; daughters, Virginia Marie Cone, Denise Whitlock and Tine Head; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Lucy Crittenden; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Sherwood Memorial Park. Rev. Lester Shell will officiate. Pope Dickson & Son Funeral Home, Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements. (770) 478-7211. Tony Harris Mr. Tony Kevin Harris, 46, of Riverdale passed away Sunday, July 17, 2005. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 22, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Divine Faith Ministries International Church in Jonesboro with interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. Pastor Donald E. Battle will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife, Monique L. Harris; daughter, Tonia Harris of Riverdale; sons, Terrell Harris of Riverdale, Kevin Anthony of Augusta; father, Clarence Harris, Sr. of Griffin; sister, Cynthia Simmons of Griffin; brothers, Clarence Harris, Jr. of Texas, Darrell Harris of Griffin, Dexter Harris of Griffin and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
