Southlake Mall will partner with Pepsi and Cosmogirl Saturday to bring "The Scene" to area teens who appreciate hot fashion, classic music, and safety.
This year's "The Scene" will feature a talent competition and live concert with R&B recording artist Nivea hosted by Atlanta's Big Station V103 in the food court.
The event, running from 2 until 7 p.m., will also feature back-to-school discounts at participating stores throughout Southlake Mall, as teens will be hear an eclectic funk blaring from DJs at either end of the mall.
Southlake Mall Marketing Manager Andrea Brinkman said that she anticipates a large teen turnout.
"In the past, we've had between 1,500 to 2,000 people attend our event," Brinkman said. "This year we're expecting more than 3,000; there are several new things this year.
"This is a perfect time for students as they enjoy their summer and prepare to go back to school,"
Brinkman encourages participants to pick up events passes for events and store discounts throughout the mall.
Safe America, a non-profit organization advocating safety, will sponsor a safe driving simulator.
According to Ted Walberg of Safe America, two simulators will disseminate a breaking test simulation. Here, teens will get a flavor of Safe America's ongoing training program, where teens practice on simulators and train for safe driving throughout the school year.
Walberg mentioned that participants may also get the opportunity to free-drive on a simulated driving track.
Variously, American InterContinental University Buckhead will sponsor and host a fashion show at 2:45 p.m. on the main stage at Southlake Food Court, where teen models will promenade back-to-school late fashion wear from various clothing and accessory retailers at Southlake Mall.
