The Riverdale City Council is set to adopt a $10.1 million budget that plans for no tax rate increase. Council members have yet to decide how they will proceed with a proposed staff reduction. The reduction would include two full-time staff members in the fire department, two full-time staff members in public works, two part-time staff members, and four vacant positions, said City Manager Iris Jessie. One of the full-time employee, she said, had already applied for another job, and a part-time employee had already gained work elsewhere. The staff reduction incensed several fire department employees who rallied for their comrades jobs at a council meeting more than two weeks ago. Thee meeting is at 7 p.m. at City Hall on Church Street.More like this story
