Irish group celebrates holiday

The green light at Atlanta Motor Speedway will not be the only green people will see next weekend.

Several events are taking place around the metro area in celebration of St. Patrick's Day, including the 124th Atlanta St. Patrick's Day Parade beginning at 1 p.m. March 19.

Those wanting to celebrate closer to home are invited to spend St. Patrick's Day with the Irish group An?na.

An?na will have a concert at 8:15 p.m. Thursday at Spivey Hall. Tickets are $40.

"(They) do music of the ancient Celts (that is) chant-style mixed with traditional Irish music," Spivey Hall marketing manager Jared Morrison said of the eight-member group of men and women. "They create a very unique atmosphere because they all wear cloaks and use ritualistic movements around the stage."

Morrison said An?na performed at Spivey Hall for St. Patrick's Day 2003 and were "wildly popular."

"We decided to invite them to come back because they are an incredible group and our patrons love them," he said.

An?na has collaborated with a diverse group of artists, including Barry Manilow and Sin?ad O'Connor, Morrison said.
