The Clayton County Board of Education will have a special called meeting at 7 tonight in the Administrative Complex, 1058 Fifth Ave., Jonesboro. The meeting was called to discuss the "standards of local school boards," as well as to discuss personnel and legal matters in executive session. The school board wants to adopt and abide by the standards set forth by the Georgia School Boards Association, Board member Wendell "Rod" Johnson said. "We have put in a request to part of this elite association so we can be accountable to their standards," Johnson said. "It helps to keep a stronger accountability of local school boards." Some of the standards include accountability to the public, achievement levels and policy-making, he said.More like this story
