Mrs. Ethel Lucille Willis Petsch, 80, of Austell, Ga., formerly of Jonesboro, died peacefully Friday, May 20, 2005.
Ethel was born June 12, 1924, in Chicago, Ill. In 1943 she met, fell in love and eloped to marry Wylie F. Petsch of Wauneta, Neb. They remained together for 57 years until Wylie's death in August, 2001. When Wylie, a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, retired from the Navy in 1960, they moved their family to Atlanta where he worked for Eastern Airlines until he retired.
Ethel will be remembered by her family and friends for her loving, caring nature; her generous, selfless character; her gentle spirit and her warm calming smile; and her kindly sense of humor. She was a wonderful, caring mother and a loving, dedicated wife whose memory will be fondly cherished.
She is survived by four children, Wylie F. "Skip" and Jane Petsch, Pamela P. and Eddie Daniell, George W. and Claire Petsch, and Lester G. Petsch; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; twin sister, Eleanor Willis McConn of Baton Rouge, La.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
There will be a graveside service beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 22 at Riverdale Methodist Church, Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Riverdale, Ga. with John Stevens officiating.
