Clayton County Police say they interrupted three men as they were stealing guns from a Forest Park warehouse.
Earl White III, 24, of Conley, Jesse Ray Thedford, 20, of Ellenwood and Brian Cain, 21, homeless, were charged with burglary and theft by receiving, according to a police report. Thedford and Cain were also charged with obstruction of a police officer and White was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude police.
Around 4:19 a.m. Monday Clayton County Police Officer J.E. Ivey responded to an alarm from the warehouse at 2511 Forest Parkway. He saw a car circling in the parking lot with its lights off, but when he approached the car's driver turned on his headlights and sped off.
Ivey pursued the car down the road to Ga. Highway 42 and then Interstate 675, finally losing the car when it exited onto Anvil Block Road. Another officer stopped the car at Grant Road and Old Conley Road, at which time they found six assault rifle-style guns in the car.
White was arrested then and Thedford and Cain were arrested after police dogs located them in a nearby wooded area.
Back at the warehouse Ivey observed that the robbers entered the warehouse by prying apart the metal bars that protected a fiberglass garage door and exited through the back door. About six guns were found stacked in the warehouse and one was found lying on the floor.
