Book sale begins today

From Staff Reports

The Friends of the Georgia Archives will be hosting a Used and Rare Book Sale at the Georgia Archives in Morrow.

The sale dates are today from noon to 5 p.m., and Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“We will have more than 15,000 fine used and rare books, videos, CDs, DVDs, audio books, magazines and more,” said book sale coordinator Grant Wainscott. “This is our inaugural fundraising event, and it promises to be an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in books or collecting.”

Though there will be all types of books sorted into more than 30 categories, organizers of the book sale say that they will specialize in genealogy, Georgia and Southern history, and history of all types.

“We expect to draw a large crowd with varied interests,” Wainscott said. “We are positioning ourselves, however, as the premiere sale for genealogy and history on the East Coast.”

There will also be a special area called the Rare Book Room, where books and papers as old as 1870 will be for sale. Several personal collections have been donated already for the sale, and many more are expected.

For information on the book sale or joining the Friends of the Georgia Archives call Wainscott at the city of Morrow at (770) 961-4002.

The Georgia Archives complex is located at 5800 Jonesboro Road in Morrow, next to the newly opened National Archives and Records Administration, at the entrance to Clayton State University.
