Some of the top high school basketball teams in the nation will have to prove themselves against some of the top Prep schools, in the first annual NEAA Elite NIT. Community Christian High School of Stockbridge has already proved it can play with anyone in the country as evident of their 102 - 90, victory over an Exhibition Tour Team filled with college players this past weekend.
Community Christian has a roster filled with seven D-1 seniors led by Solomon Tat, who has committed to the University of Virginia.
CCS also has a top 5 sophomore in 6'7 Olu Ashaolu and top 15 player in 6'7 Vincent Rogers, and a top 5 freshmen in Junior Cadougan, who has been featured on page 144 - 118, in Slam Magazine, and is drawing comparisons to a young Isaiah Thomas.
The NEAA Elite NIT is the most talented high school tournament to ever be played in Georgia. It is also a preview of the NEAA National Championship that will be held in Atlanta, GA, March 1 - 4, 2006, where the top teams in North America will compete in the High School Division and Prep School Division.
The NEAA Elite NIT will be held in the Atlanta metro area, November 9-12. The location and game times are on the schedule below. The list of schools include Community Christian, Stockbridge, GA; Calvary Christian, Los Angeles, CA; Toronto Prep, Toronto, Canada; Sound Doctrine, LaGrange, GA; Stoneridge Prep, Los Angeles, CA; Genesis One Elite, Mendenhall, MS; Covenant Christian, Marietta, GA; Florida Prep, Brandleton, FL; Boys to Men Academy, Chicago, IL; Patterson School, Durham, NC; Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy; Atlanta, GA; Genesis One Select, Mendenhall, MS; Harmony Prep, Cincinnati, OH.
Teams for the event are divided into four groups with Community Christian, Calvary Christian and Toronto Prep playing in Division A, Sound Doctrine, Florida Prep and Genesis 1 Elite making up group B. Coventant Christian, Stoneridge Prep and Boys to Men in group C and Patterson School, Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy, Genesis 1 select and Harmony Prep in Group D.
Action begins Wednesday at Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy starting at 4 p.m. when Conventant Christian takes on Stoneridge Prep, Sound Docterine plays Florida Prep at5:30 p.m., and Community Christian plays Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy at 7.
Community Christian plays host to a series of games Friday and Saturday.
Friday's action includes Geenis 1 Select vs. Harmony Prep at 3:30o, Florida Prep vs. Stoneridge Prep at 5, Sound Docterine vs. Geneis 1 Elite at 6:30 p.m., Covenant Christian vs. Boys to Men, 8 p.m., and Community Christian vs. Toronto Prep at 9:30 p.m.
Medal round games will be played starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and going on throughout the day.
